Big Number Academy wasn't born from a business plan. It was born from a parent's love, a child's passion, and a simple wish for a world that fits.
The Moment Everything Changed
It Started with a Question About a Googolplex
For as long as we can remember, our son, Alex, has found a deep, calming joy in the world of numbers. Where others see digits, he sees patterns, order, and a language that makes perfect sense. The world can often feel loud, chaotic, and demanding, but for Alex, the world of numbers has always been a safe haven.
One afternoon, he came to me with a question, his eyes wide with curiosity: “Daddy, what comes after a googolplex?”
In that simple question, we saw more than just a love for maths. We saw a brilliant mind eager to explore concepts so vast they are hard to imagine. And we realised that while there were countless apps to test his knowledge, there were no spaces designed to simply celebrate his way of thinking. There was no digital world built for him.
From Our Family to Yours
My wife and I knew we had to create that space. We imagined a digital world that felt as calm and as joyful as Alex did when he was deep in his world of numbers. We didn't want to build another educational game; we wanted to build a sanctuary.
That simple question sparked an idea. As a web developer, I realised I had the skills to build the very thing we were imagining. My wife and I knew we had to create that space, and that it couldn’t be just another educational game; we had to build a sanctuary.
Every decision was guided by our experience as his parents. We knew it had to be visually calm, so we chose soft colours and gentle animations. We knew it had to be pressure-free, so we removed all timers, scores, and “game over” screens. We wanted to create a place where the process of discovery was the only reward necessary.
Big Number Academy was built during late nights after Alex was asleep, at the kitchen table, with a shared belief that if this little world could bring him a sense of peace and confidence, it might do the same for other children, and other families, too.
